Hearts - Diamonds are Everyone's Best Friend

Rules

This is one of my favorite card games because it is very simple to learn and can be played by any number of players. It has a number of different strategies which can be employed. The most basic strategy is to try to get rid of your highest cards first and only use your low cards when you are trying to avoid taking points. My favorite strategy is to try to trade all of my clubs to another person then I am able to play my hearts when the leading suit is something else.
This game can be played multiple times in a row without it becoming boring, and you can stop and start as needed which makes it a good option for people who want to have an ongoing game with a group of people. I have personally played this game for hours and even when you are playing against people who are very good at the game a new player still has a chance if they are clever.
One of the other advantages of Hearts is that it can be played on the go all it requires is a deck of cards and does not require a lot of space to put down cards because it doesn’t have a static card positioning like solitaire
There are many variations to the game, my favorite is Extender 8’s in this variation when an 8 is played in a trick that trick is extended for another round with the same leading suit and whoever has the highest card wins both rounds. This adds a whole new element to the game because you can use an 8 to your advantage. For example, if someone plays the ace of spades at the end of the round to try to get rid of it you can extend it another round almost guaranteeing that that person will take the queen of spades.

  2. I had no idea there was more than one way to play hearts. I enjoy the blog and the explanation of the strategies. One thing I will mention is that you put Rules as the tittle of your blog, and you don't necessarily explain them, or it just wasn't clear to me. I'm excited to see what game is in the next post. Any thoughts on cards against humanity, I know no strategy involve, but one funny game.
